White Chocolate Popcorn and Giveaway

white chocolate popcorn

If you are a popcorn lover like myself, beware.  Once you make a batch of this White Chocolate Popcorn you may eat the entire batch yourself.  It is sweet and salty and so addicting.  If you are familiar with recipes like white trash mix and puppy chow that is what inspired me to make this recipe.   Instead of using rice or corn chex which is commonly used in those recipes I substituted it with popcorn.

This makes a great homemade gift for the holidays as well.  If you can resist eating it, you can put this in cute little containers or even find these popcorn boxes ( I got mine at Target). Wrap it in cellophane and tie with a ribbon.

And if that wasn’t good enough, I blended in Kernel Seasons Kettle Corn seasoning to enhance the sweet and salty flavor.  If you are a fan of Kettle Corn it really adds such great flavor to this recipe.

I have a weakness for kettle corn.  Anytime we are out at craft fairs I always have to pick up a bag of freshly popped kettle corn.  I can barely keep my hands out of the bag.  Now I can get the same great kettle corn flavor right in my own kitchen anytime with Kernel Seasons Kettle Corn seasoning.  Not only does Kernel Seasons offer Kettle Corn but they offer a variety of flavors from Caramel to Buffalo Wing.  You can even buy four of the flavors already in pre-seasoned ready to eat popcorn.  The seasonings are great for popcorn, obviously but they are also great for many other recipes too.  Here are a few of my other ideas to use Kernel Seasons with.

Buffalo Wing Dip
Everyone love the famous Buffalo Wing Dip but make a chilled version by combining equal parts sour cream and mayonnaise. Sprinkle in Kernel Seasons Buffalo Wing seasoning to taste. Serve with veggies or tortilla chips for a zesty dip.

Bacon and Cheddar Baked Potatoes
Sprinkle baked potatoes with Kernel Seasons Bacon and Cheddar seasoning for a tasty baked potato.

Barbeque Burgers
Give your burgers a kick and sprinkle your burger meat with Kernel Seasons Barbeque seasoning.

Parmesan and Garlic Steamed Veggies
Whether you steam your veggies in a steam basket or use frozen vegetables in the steam bags, sprinkle with Kernel Seasons Parmesan and Garlic seasoning when they are hot. I especially love this on steamed broccoli, green beans and asparagus.

Apple Cinnamon Toast
Sprinkle your morning toast with Kernel Seasons Apple Cinnamon seasoning. This is also is great in yogurt, on top of oatmeal or tosse with your favorite granola.

Aren’t you hungry for a bowl of popcorn now?

My friends at Kernel Seasons would like to give one Mother Thyme reader two of their seasonings, your choice!  Just enter below for your chance to win.

Good luck!

White Chocolate Popcorn

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. (9 cups) plain popped popcorn
  • 1 bag (12.6 oz) M&M’s
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup whole unsalted almonds
  • 1/4 cup sprinkles
  • 2 bags (11 oz. each) white chocolate chip morsels
  • 3 tablespoons Kernel Seasons Kettle Corn Seasoning

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Place popcorn, M&M’s, walnuts, almonds and sprinkles in a large bowl and set aside.
  3. Melt white chocolate in microwave in 30 second intervals or over a double boiler on the stove. Once white chocolate is melted stir in kettle corn seasoning.
  4. Pour melted chocolate over popcorn mixture and gently stir until combined.
  5. Spread mixture on baking sheet until harden. Break apart and store in air tight containers.

Notes

If you use a bag of microwave popcorn you’ll have plenty of popped popcorn from one bag plus a little extra to munch on. I use my popcorn maker with 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels which makes more than enough for one batch.
