Have you ever tried a sauce that was so good you just wanted to eat it with a spoon?

For me, this is one of them.

Pomodoro sauce is a basic tomato sauce that is simply made with tomatoes, olive oil, onion, garlic, a pinch of sugar, salt, pepper and basil. That’s it! It’s so simple yet so good. Pomodoro sauce is blended so it has a very smooth texture with all the flavors infused in it which is different from a marinara sauce that tends to be a little chunkier. It’s definitely one of those sauces you want to have bookmarked to whip up a quick weeknight meal to serve over pasta or I love to toss it with zoodles, spaghetti squash or even with some delicious chicken meatballs for a low carb meal.

What is also great about a sauce like this is you probably have the ingredients on hand so if dinner plans change or if you are just craving a big bowl of pasta you’re in luck. I’m a believer of having a few meals stashed away that I an easily make and pasta is definitely one of them. With a box of pasta, a can of whole tomatoes and a few other simple ingredients you can have dinner ready in no time.

Here’s where the real fun begins. We all have a can of whole tomatoes in our pantry, right? When you use them in your cooking have you ever really took a good look at the quality or noticed if they were even all whole? As I continue to grow and educate myself about food it’s important to me to truly appreciate good quality ingredients. I have learned throughout the years that quality ingredients do matter and can make a big difference in a recipe. You could have an amazing recipe but it could all go down the drain if the ingredients aren’t good.

Makes sense, right?

And if you are spending quality time preparing meals it’s important to make sure you are using good quality ingredients to make your meal sensational. You don’t want to waste your time making a meal that doesn’t taste as good as it could because the quality of ingredients. Sometimes it’s worth spending a little extra money on good ingredients to get a great tasting meal that you aren’t throwing away. In that case you not only wasted time but money.

  1. I made this recipe and we loved it! So full of flavor and very easy to make!

I am a little confused about the comparison table you have of the tomato brands. Granted, I haven’t actually looked at the Hunt’s tomato can and its ingredients, but I am fairly certain tomatoes are vegan, and cholesterol free. So because those two weren’t ‘checked’ on the list, I have a difficult time believing the validity of the other claims! I’m not trying to be rude, just wanted to point it out and clarify the misinformation.

But thank you for the great recipe! It’s become one of our regulars.
