Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

Creamy and delicious buttermilk ranch dressing is perfect for salads and dips.  Make dinner tonight a salad night by tossing together a BLT or Cobb Salad and top your salad with this dressing.

If you are like many (myself included) it is so easy when you are at the market to go down the condiment/salad dressing aisle and see the rows of salad dressings staring at you.  You just grab a bottle off the shelf and mark it off your list.  Easy does it, right?  Have you ever looked at the ingredients on the back of one of the bottles?  If you haven’t let’s pause for a minute while you run to your refrigerator to take a look. (Go, go, go…I’ll play hum the jeopardy theme song while you go look).

Welcome back!  So did you look?  Now seriously, what are some of those ingredients?  As my mother would say “Are you serious”?  (I can see her at her computer right now cracking up that I mentioned that saying).

Yes, it is convenient to grab a bottle off the grocery store shelf, but if you, or someone you know likes ranch dressing, you can make this as quickly as I can say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.  Well, maybe I’m exaggerating just a bit, but you get my point.  And yes, I had to google Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (got to love, copy and paste)!

When it comes to salads, I prefer vinaigrette’s over, creamy dressings but on occasion, or based on the salad I am making (such as the BLT or Cobb Salad as I mentioned before), a creamy, ranch dressing it the dressing of choice.  Once you try this dressing, I am almost certain you will never buy a bottle of ranch dressing again.

It was so good that even Mr. Mother Thyme asked if we were having salads for dinner as he was craving this dressing.  Good way to get my darling husband to eat a salad.

This dressing is so good.  It is one of those dressing you just want to keep grabbing a spoonful of!

Mix together and store and chill for at least an hour before serving.

I need to save this. I ran out of Ranch dressing the other day and was very sad when I went into the fridge and realized there wasn’t any in there. Although I don’t use it much I will definitely have to remember this for next time!

Hi Amanda! After I cut the wedge, I remove the discard of the outer leaf. I use the hose of the faucet to clean in between the leaves then I submerge the wedge in bowl of ice water and let it soak for a bit. I remove the wedge, rinse again and use a clean towel to dry and let it air dry for a bit as well. You can also gently put in a salad spinner to remove any access water as well.

How long would this dressing last ,covered, in the fridge? We don’t use much dressing on our salads, but I’m trying to get away from packaged ones.
