An easy recipe for BBQ Vidalia Onion Hot Dogs – perfect for any summertime barbecue!
You know it’s summer when Vidalia onions are available at the grocery stores. There is nothing like these sweet Vidalia onions hand picked (yes, they are hand picked) from the ground in southern Georgia.
I had the chance to visit the onion fields in Vidalia last year. I was in sweet Vidalia heaven. The past few years I have shared some of my favorite Vidalia onion recipes like my Campfire Burgers topped with an amazing Campfire Sauce that is out of this world. These burgers always get rave reviews so you definitely want to check them out.
This summer I’ll be sharing more delicious Vidalia onions recipes. I am kicking off the season with this BBQ Vidalia Onion Sauce. If you have ever had a New York style hot dog with onion sauce it’s just like that but even better.
FUN FACT – Vidalia onions are only grown in 20 Georgia counties. Only these onions can be called Vidalia onions. You can look for the number 4159 on the sticker that’s on each onion to make sure it’s a true Vidalia.
Hot dogs and Vidalia onions are a summertime favorite. Together they make a perfect match. Once you top your hot dog with this BBQ Vidalia Onion Sauce, you may never go back to just plain old ketchup, mustard and relish.
For your next backyard BBQ you have to try this. It’s a sweet taste of summer in each tasty bite.
