If you love chocolate then you are going to love this Slow Cooker Triple Chocolate Lava Cake. It’s warm, and oh so chocolately! I like it best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to balance all the chocolate. Once you dive into this irresistible lava cake it’s hard to stop eating!
Not only is this lava cake delicious but it’s super easy to make thanks to some super market shortcuts. You just need a box of devils food cake mix, a box of instant chocolate pudding cake mix and a bag of milk chocolate chips. The rest of the ingredients including milk, eggs and vegetable oil you probably already have on hand. I can whip up this dessert for under five bucks, so it’s an inexpensive dessert too! Perfect for party or even a potluck! With all the holiday gatherings coming up this sure would be a hit at any party!
I made this in my new Crock Pot Casserole Crock. I just got it and absolutely love it. It’s a 9×13 crock so it’s the perfect potluck size. The crock can actually go in the oven too! I think it’s going to be great for the upcoming holidays too for all those extra side dishes! I got mine at Target but you can find it all over! If you don’t have this size, no worries you can definitely make this dessert in any size and/or brand slow cooker you have, just not a mini one! A 4-6 quart slow cooker would work perfectly!
What makes this dessert so tasty is the layers of chocolate. You have the chocolate cakey layer but once you dive inside you have a pool of ooey, gooey chocolate goodness thanks to the warm pudding. The chocolate chips add even more chocolatey goodness to every bite!
Even if you don’t serve this warm it’s super yummy and if you don’t warm it up it’s a super moist and delicious cake. It’s decadent and delicious no matter if you serve it warm or not. It’s one dessert you’ll definitely love making in your slow cooker!

Ingredients
- 1 box instant chocolate pudding mix (3.9 oz box)
- 2 C whole milk
- 1 box devil’s food cake mix (15.25 oz box)
- 1 1/4 C whole milk
- 1/2 C vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 12 oz milk chocolate chips
- vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Spray slow cooker with non stick cooking spray or line with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl mix together pudding mix and 2 cups milk. Set aside to thicken slightly.
- While pudding is setting in another large bowl mix together cake mix, milk, vegetable oil and eggs.
- Pour cake batter in the bottom of slow cooker.
- Add dollops of pudding on top of cake mix. Do not stir!
- Sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Do not stir!
- Cover and cook on low for 2 1/2-3 hours until cake is set and pudding starts bubbling.
- Turn heat off and allow too cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm (or cold) with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
