GREEN BEANS WITH TOASTED GARLIC BUTTER BREADCRUMBS AND ALMONDS

Green Beans with Toasted Garlic Butter Breadcrumbs and Almonds

The name says it all! An easy recipe for Green Beans with Toasted Garlic Butter Breadcrumbs and Almonds made with tender green beans tossed with buttery garlic breadcrumbs and almonds. The perfect side dish for any meal!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plain panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 4 tablespoons softened butter divided
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pound fresh green beans cleaned and trimmed
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl mix together breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, almonds, garlic powder and Italian seasoning. 

  2. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a medium skillet over medium heat.

  3. Add minced garlic and cook for about 45 seconds, until fragrant.

  4. Add breadcrumb mixture to skillet and cook, stirring occasionally until toasted, about 4-5 minutes.

  5. Remove mixture from skillet and set aside.

  6. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water to a boil.

  7. Add green beans and cook for about 5 minutes until tender.

  8. Drain and transfer warm green beans to a large bowl.

  9. Toss warm green beans with remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Heat from green beans should melt the butter and coat the green beans with butter. 

  10. Toss green beans with breadcrumb mixture.

  11. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Recipe Notes

You could also use a 1 pound bag of steamed frozen green beans too. Follow instructions above for garlic butter breadcrumbs and almonds. Steam green beans per package instructions then add green beans to a bowl and toss with butter and toss with garlic butter breadcrumbs and almonds. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
