Orange Yogurt Muffins

Oranges are so symbolic to me during the holiday season.  They remind me of visiting Colonial Williamsburg during the holidays and seeing all the beautiful wreaths loaded with fruit on the doorways.  If you have ever been to Colonial Williamsburg you know what a beautiful place it is, especially during the holidays.

Some of the beautiful wreaths from Colonial Williamsburg from our last visit.

The twins have gotten their first colds but you certainly wouldn’t know it from how they are acting.  They are so good.  I have been trying to give them orange slices and orange juice to give them vitamin C and they haven’t been too interested.  I decided to create a muffin that incorporated fresh orange zest and juice in to them, and they turned out fantastic.

The smell of fresh oranges wafts throughout the house as you make them; it is so aromatic.  If you love the smell of oranges, you’ll love these muffins just for the smell alone.

These muffins are moist and delicious with just the right amount of orange.  If you are having guests staying at your home over the holidays, these would be perfect to serve at breakfast.

  1. Recipes for baked goods with oranges seem to be very scarce, so I am glad I have come across this. I am sure they are very moist due to the yogurt and the light glaze does allow for the true orange flavor to shine through. These are definitely worth trying-yum!

  2. I’m a first time follower. I was on Never Enough Thyme’s website when I saw poached pears in red wine under Blog Her Food. I used to make these frequently and actually thought about it yesterday. I’ve been trying to find the recipe, I think I deviated from Martha Stewart many, many year’s ago. I’ll save my time searching and try your’s. Your photography is beautiful. I am going to try this orange muffin recipe on my grandkids, four, three and one. It should be fun having them help make them. Kudos to your success and continued career in blogging.

  3. Help! I was going to make these for the christmas holiday and I see in the ingredients it calls for 1/2 c. orange zest! I am sure this is a typo! What is the correct measurement for the orange zest? I don’t think I can purchase enough oranges for that! LOL

    1. Hi Wendy! It is 1/2 cup orange zest. 🙂 You should be able to get that amount of zest from about 3-4 large oranges. It will simmer with the sugar, juice and water to create such a lovely aroma too! Let me know how they turn out for you!

      1. Thank you Jennifer! I thought it was a typo and then I thought about it and ralized it wasn’t.. I will let you know how they turn out. Hugs and Kisses

  4. i just made these muffins and they are lovely! they had a somewhat strong baking soda flavor, though, so next time i might slightly reduce that. otherwise they’re great, thanks for the recipe!

  5. I made the muffins and my grandsons love them. The recipe says 1/2 cup sugar divided. I read through it several times and couldn’t find any further instruction about divided sugar. Did I miss something or is this a misprint? I ended up using only 1/4 cup of sugar.
