What’s not to love about rice krispie treats? They are so simple yet so yummy! No matter how old you are no one can resist these tasty treats!

You’ve probably made rice krispie treats hundreds of times but if you never made them like this you don’t know what you’re missing. These are seriously hand down the best rice krispie treats I have ever had and every time I make these they are gone in seconds. People often ask me how I make them or what’s my secret to these irresistible treats. It’s kind of funny. These rice krispie treats are soft, thick and chewy just like a rice krispie treat should be.

If you are heading to a BBQ, family reunion or just because you’re in the mood for rice krispie treats you have to try these! Trust me you won’t regret it. These little no bake treats are everyone’s favorite.

My kiddos can’t get enough of these. They’ve been asking me to make these all the time. They are the perfect summer treat!

So what makes these so good? It’s all about the marshmallow. Instead of melting all the marshmallows all at once I reserve a little over a cup and stir them in at the end. I also use a 8×12 inch baking dish so you get nice and thick squares perfect for sinking your teeth into. My one other little thing I like to do is add in a splash of vanilla extract into the melted marshmallow. It’s completely optional and I’ve made these with and without vanilla before. Either way they are completely delish. Just make sure you save one for yourself before they are gone!

  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1 bag (10 ounce mini marshmallows)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal


  1. Spray a 8×12 inch baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Melt butter in a large pot over medium-low heat.
  3. Reserve 1 1/2 cups marshmallows and pour the remaining marshmallows into melted butter.
  4. Stir constantly until marshmallows are almost melted then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Stir in crispy rice cereal and remaining marshmallows and gently stir until coated with melted marshmallow mixture.
  6. Pour mixture into prepare baking dish.
  7. Spray hands with cooking spray and press mixture evenly into baking dish.
  8. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
