CANDY CANE SUGAR SCRUB

It’s Christmas in July! Who else is watching Hallmark Christmas movies right now? I am and I’m loving it! I love Christmas in July because I can actually relax and enjoy the movie without worrying about Christmas shopping, wrapping presents, Christmas parties, and all the other fun stuff when Christmas comes around! Plus I just love Christmas and the holiday season goes by so quickly! You blink and it’s over. So I’ll take Christmas any time of year I can!

I ALSO like to start NOW with preparing what I’m doing for Christmas. I know it seems early, but you all know it’s going to be here before we know it! I love getting ideas now for Christmas so once it’s really here I feel like I’m ahead of the game! Don’t you hate when you see an idea or giftie for Christmas and you say I wish I knew about that sooner? I do! So I thought I’d share this one with you that I love to do every year!

You can literally make this Candy Cane Sugar Scrub in minutes and makes the perfect giftie for so many people on your list, or just that little extra gift just because. This Candy Cane Sugar Scrub is essentially peppermint sugar scrub but I thought I’d give it a cute name for the holidays. It smells so good and definitely smells like minty candy canes!

Not only does this smell good but it feels so good to the skin. Talk about exfoliation! This stuff works and is pretty for dry, itchy skin especially during the winter months, or anytime!

So gather up the list below and you’ll have 4-5 gifts ready in no time!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 2 cups sugar – just plain white sugar. If you have organic white sugar even better!
  • 1 cup coconut oil – the solid stuff. You’ll liquify it before mixing it in.
  • 100% pure peppermint essential oil. I use NOW brand.
  • 4 ounce Ball quilted jelly jars. You’ll need 4-5 of them depending on how full you fill them.
  • Some pretty ribbon. I use black and white twine for around the jars, but any festive ribbon will work!

TO WRAP THE PRESENTS

  • Clear favor bags – I use these from Target. They have them at Hobby Lobby too.
  • White shredded paper filler from the Dollar Tree or Hobby Lobby.
  • Some more twine, yarn or ribbon to tie the bags.

MAKE IT!

Once you’ve gathered all your supplies you’re ready to whip up a simple batch of this Candy Cane Sugar Scrub! Simply melt the coconut oil in the microwave for 30-4o seconds until it’s liquified then allow to cool for a few minutes. DON’T mix in warm or hot oil to the sugar! Once the oil is cool stir together the sugar, oil and 25-30 drops of peppermint essential oil. I’m pretty generous with the oil and like it really pepperminty so I use almost 30. Start with maybe 25 then mix in a little more if needed.

Once it’s all mixed together scoop into the jars. Keep in mind the mixture will harden again since you’re using coconut oil. That’s totally fine so don’t be alarmed when you open the jars and see it harden. Once you touch or scoop a little out with your hands it softens right back up. You can use little spoons but your finger works just fine!

You can also use olive oil instead of coconut oil but I prefer the coconut oil. The olive oil isn’t as pure white as the coconut oil and I like the way the skin feels with the coconut oil.

Once you’ve filled the jars now it’s time to print these ADORABLE labels. I use Avery stick paper but you could use cardstock and double sided table. All the instructions are on the printables too! Print the labels then cut them out and attach them to the jars. I uploaded the labels to our Cricut Explore Air2 and cut the labels our that way but they’re super easy to cut with a good pair of scissors too!

After that, add some ribbon and the jars are done!

For gift giving we placed our jars in clear plastic favor bags along with some white shredded paper then tied it with some yarn. I like to keep this simple but feel free to embellish this however you like!

If you love Rae Dunn as much as I do or have a Rae Dunn fan on your Christmas list this is a great gift and super easy to make too!

And who says you need to wait to make this luscious scrub! You can make and enjoy it now! This is a year round scent! Peppermint is so soothing too! Make and enjoy now, and save the labels for gifties for Christmas!

Merry Christmas in July!
