Have you ever made a gift in a jar? If so, you know how fun and easy they are to make. If you haven’t I’m here to help with 4 easy gift in a jar ideas that anyone would love!

The best part is you can make one or has many as you like! I will give you the step by step instructions to make one at a time, or step up an assembly line to make a bunch.

Sometimes you just need one or you’d like to whip up a quick gift! With these there is no need to whip up a large batch. It’s all broken down to one at a time or set as many jars up as you need an set up an assembly line.

GIFT 1 – SIMMER POT GIFT IN A JAR

This one is easy but takes the longest because of the time to dry the fruit.

Holiday Simmer Pot in a Jar

Ingredients

Fresh cranberries Apples Oranges Rosemary Cinnamon Cinnamon sticks Ground allspice Ground cloves Mulling spices 16 oz mason jar

Instructions

  • Add cranberries in a pot of water and bring to boil for a few minutes until the skins pot.
  • Drain and rinse.
  • Use a kitchen towel to gently pat dry.
  • Slice apples and oranges in 1/4 slices and pat dry with a kitchen towel.
  • Place fruit on a large parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Add sprigs of rosemary.
  • Bake in a 200 degree oven, flipping fruit ever 30 minutes until dried and edges are golden brown, about 4 hours depending on thickness of slices.
  • NOTE – Rosemary will only take 30-45 minutes. Remove that when dried and continue to dry fruit.
  • To make jar, sprinkle the bottom of a 16 oz wide mouth mason jar with mulling spices.
  • Add sliced fruit and 2-3 cinnamon sticks.
  • Top with dried cranberries and sprinkle with more mulling spices on top.
  • Add a dash of dried allspice and cloves.
  • Add lid and attach tag with directions to lid with twine.

Notes

Directions to make jar (on tag)

  • You will need 2-3 cups water or apple cider and small pot
  • Add contents of jar and water or apple cider to pot.
  • Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer and add additional liquid when needed.

Gift 2 – Beer Bread in a Jar

This is one of my favorites and wait until you see how easy it is!

Beer Bread in a Jar

  • Yield: 1 jar

Ingredients

  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 24 tablespoons sugar (I usually do 23 tablespoons)
  • OPTIONAL ADD-IN: 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Mix flour, sugar and optional add in to quart size mason jar.
  • Add lid and tag with instructions.

Notes

Directions to make (on tag)

  • You will need 12 oz beer and optional 3 tablespoons of butter, melted
  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Spray 9×5 load pan with cooking spray.
  • Stir mix with beer until combined.
  • Pour into loaf pan.
  • Drizzle melted butter on top.
  • Bake for 50-55 minutes.

Gift 3 – Homemade Pancake Mix in a Jar

Easy homemade pancake in a jar! I love having a few of these jars on hand to whip up pancakes on busy mornings! Just add water and an egg!

Homemade Pancakes in a Jar

Just like shake and pour! Add ingredients in a large jar and add a lid! When ready to make pancakes just add water and egg in a jar! These are yummy and perfect for busy mornings!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 3 tablespoons instant non-fat dry milk (Carnation)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoons baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • In a quart size mason mix together flour, dry milk, sugar, baking soda and salt in a quart size mason jar.
  • Add lid and tag.

Notes

Directions to make (on tag)

  • You will need 3/4 cup water and 1 egg.
  • Beat egg in a small bowl.
  • Add water and egg to jar and stir until combined.
  • Pour 1/4 cup batter in a hot buttered skillet.
  • Cook until golden brown on both sides.

Gift 4 – Chocolate Chip Cookies in a Jar

Who doesn’t love chocolate chip cookies? These make a great gift, or make few jars to have on hand to make a warm and yummy batch of chocolate chip cookies!

Chocolate Chip Cookies in a Jar

  • Yield: 1 jar

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  • In a quart size mason jar mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Tamp it down.
  • Add light brown sugar top and tamp down.
  • Add sugar on top of light brown sugar and top down.
  • Add chocolate chips on top.
  • Add lid and tag.

Notes

Directions to make (on tag)

  • You will need 1 stick butter, melted and 1 egg
  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Add cookie mi, melted butter and egg to a large bowl and stir until combined.
  • Scoop 1 tablespoon size ball of dough and place on cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 12- 14 minutes.

  3. JUST TO CLARIFY…I NOTICED THE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES IN A JAR TAG DIRECTIONS IT SAYS “YOU WILL NEED 1/2 STICK BUTTER MELTED, BUT THE PRINTED TAG SAYS “YOU WILL NEED 1/2 CUP OR (1 STICK) BUTTER MELTED”. CAN YOU PLEASE CLARIFY THIS FOR ME?

  4. Is there any way to print just the chocolate chip cookie tags? Love the simmer jars going to find unique jars at rummage/estate/thift this summer it will be my neighborhood gift for next year. Love all. Do you live near the Twin Cities I would love to hire for a home designer.
