Thrifted Frame Makeover + Free Vintage Landscape Printable

There’s just something about vintage landscape art that adds so much warmth and character to a home. It has that collected, timeless feel that I always love.

I found this frame at the Goodwill bins with a picture inside that didn’t really work with my decor, but I loved the frame and knew I could do something with it. I brought it home, used the original backing, and added this vintage landscape printable instead.

It completely changed the look of the frame and gave it so much more charm. I love finding simple ways to give thrifted pieces new life, and this was such an easy little makeover.

How I Printed Mine

I printed mine at CVS on their repositionable poster paper. Other print shops offer similar options, but I tend to use CVS because it’s convenient and I’ve always been happy with the quality.

What I really like about it is the smooth finish, especially if you’re framing it without glass. It gives the print a clean, finished look.

I’ve even used the poster prints without peeling the sticky backing off and just used them like a regular print inside a frame.

How I Gave It a Faux Oil Painting Look

One of my favorite little tricks is adding matte Mod Podge over the top of printable art to give it more texture and make it look a little more like a real painting.

Here’s how I do it:

1. Lay the print on a flat protected surface.

2. Use a soft brush or foam brush.

3. Apply a light coat of Matte Mod Podge using long brush strokes.

4. Change direction in a few areas so it doesn’t look too uniform.

5. Let it dry completely.

It dries clear and gives the surface subtle texture that looks so pretty once framed.

If you’d like more texture, you can always add a second light coat after the first one dries.
