Classic American-Style Goulash

  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 green pepper (diced)
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 can condensed tomato soup
  • 1 can (28 ounce whole tomatoes, drained and chopped)
  • 12 cups tomato puree
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Cook pasta per package instructions and set aside.
  2. Meanwhile heat olive oil in a large deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
  3. Add pepper and onions and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add ground beef and lightly season with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook peppers, onions and ground beef until ground beef is thoroughly cooked then stir in one can of tomato soup.
  6. Pour noodles to a large bowl and stir in remaining can of tomato soup and mix until noodles are covered.
  7. Mix noodles with ground beef mixture then add in chopped tomatoes.
  8. Stir in tomato puree 1 cup at a time until desired consistency.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Simmer on low heat until heated thru and serve warm.
