Maple Walnut Baked Pears

MAPLE WALNUT BAKED PEARS

Ingredients

  • 5 Rainier Fruit D’Anjou Pears
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Slice pears in half lengthwise.
  3. Using a spoon scoop out the seeds and make a little well in the center.
  4. Place pears in a 9×13 baking dish.
  5. Brush pears with melted butter and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
  6. In a small bowl mix together walnuts, cranberries, maple syrup and remaining 2 teaspoons cinnamon until combined.
  7. Scoop some of the mixture in the center of each pear. Reserve any of the cinnamon syrup that collected in the bottom of the bowl.
  8. Bake pears on the center rack for 30-40 minutes until nice and tender.
  9. Remove and cool slightly before serving.
  10. Before serving drizzle any reserved cinnamon syrup.

Notes

I like to reserve the sweet cinnamon syrup that collects at the bottom of the bowl with the walnut mixture and use that to drizzle on the warm baked pears. If you don’t have enough syrupy goodness and can easily whip up more by taking a few tablespoons of maple syrup mixed well with about 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon and then drizzle over the pears before serving or even on top of the yogurt or ice cream that you might serve it with. It’s so good!

I actually only use 9 halves so I have an extra half left which I snack on while the pears are baking! Feel free to bake it too or enjoy snacking on it like me!
