I’m Jenn!

Hi there and welcome to Mother Thyme! I’m Jenn a former travel agent turned busy homeschooling mama of 13 year old twins, wife to an amazing husband, follower of Christ and the voice behind this little food blog called Mother Thyme.

In the kitchen I have found enjoyment creating meals that combine fresh ingredients with items that are already in the pantry. My recipes combine fresh ingredients with common items already on hand for simple and delicious meals.

I’m a 49 year old mama to beautiful twins that are my life. I love spending my free time in the kitchen cooking, or working on decorating and crafting projects. When the twins are tucked in bed for the evening I love crafting, quilting and cooking.

A Little Bit About Me

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Buffalo, New York. After years of living in other parts of New York, Florida and Virginia, we are back in the Buffalo area. We truly love this area and that is why we returned.  It is a great place to raise a family and where else can you get the best Buffalo Wings and Beef on Weck?

Prior to having the twins I spent 16 years in the travel industry. I was fortunate that I was able to travel to some beautiful places such as Vietnam, Paris, London, Dublin, and a handful of the Caribbean islands. I met some interesting people along the way and had some great food.  I still remember the little cafe I was sitting at near the Eiffel Tower having the best coffee I think I ever had or the Pho I had while sitting on little stool at a sidewalk vendor in Vietnam. Great memories, and great food.

I was fortunate to work in the travel industry until a week before I had the twins. I had a great pregnancy (even though it was long road to get pregnant) and I carried them for 36 weeks. On July 22, 2010 our beautiful twins Tyler and Eden were born. We are truly blessed.

Since 2011 I have been sharing my recipes on Mother Thyme. I want to add my little footprint in the world of food blogging and share my love and passion for food with others. I want to look back someday and show my kids what mommy did. I want them to know with determination anything is possible. I am so grateful to my readers and everyone that follows my little piece of the blogosphere. I have  accomplished things I never thought was possible since MT originated. I have been featured on many sites I admire and feel so truly blessed everyday that I get to do what I love to do.

All the recipes and decorating ideas I share I have created on my own unless otherwise noted. There are so many wonderful recipes and decorating projects out there that I do like to try them. I love to give credit where credit is due so I will always share if I am using a recipe or idea I share from someone or have adapted it from somewhere.

What will you find on Mother Thyme? Mostly recipes but from time to time I just might pop in a a fun destination to check out or other ideas too! Sign up for the weekly newsletter that will include the latest updates, new ideas, videos and even a free weekly printable just for email subscribers!

Q&A

I often get asked questions, so I thought I would take some of the questions I get asked often and share them here for fun.

Q.  What is your favorite food?
A.  I love pasta!  I could eat it everyday!

Q.  Salty or sweet?
A.  Definitely sweet! I have a weakness for cookies, especially Chocolate Chip. I even have Pinterest board designated to all things Chocolate Chip.

Q.  All-time favorite go to cookbook?
A.  My collection of bound Cooks Illustrated cookbooks are by far my favorite!

Q.  What is your favorite recipe on Mother Thyme?
A. Of course all of them are special to me but if I had to pick just one I would have to choose the Iced Oatmeal Cookies. They remind me of the Iced Oatmeal Cookies I would eat when I was young. I get so many emails and comments about this recipe. Everyone loves them and it means so much to me.

Q.  Do you let your kids cook with you?
A.  All the time!  I love it.  They love stirring the batter if we are making pancakes or sprinkling the cheese on their quesadilla.  I want them to have these memories of cooking with me as they get older.

Q.  Do you meal plan?
A.  Yes, I do or at least I try my best to stick to a weekly menu.  Of course life happens and sometimes the menu changes but I try to stick with a menu plan as best as I can.

Thank you for taking the time to visit Mother Thyme. I hope you join me as I share heartfelt stories, recipes, decorating and entertaining ideas.
