Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Sift flour, baking soda and salt in medium bowl.
  3. Using an electric mixer or stand mixer, beat butter and and shortening in large bowl until fluffy. Add sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla and beat well. Beat in eggs one at a time. Gradually add in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips by hand.
  4. Drop tablespoon size mounds on to nonstick cookie sheets spacing each about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake cookies about 9-12 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes then transfer to wire racks.
