Brown Sugar Pancakes

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, divided
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Brown Butter Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup light brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. In a small bowl whisk milk, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, butter, egg and vanilla extract until blended.
  3. Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir until blended and smooth.
  4. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. Pour desired amount of batter on skillet. Sprinkle batter with a few pinches of remaining brown sugar.
  5. Flip pancakes when pinhole size bubbles begin to form.
  6. Serve warm with Brown Sugar Syrup

Brown Sugar Syrup

  1. Add water and brown sugar to a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Reduce to a simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat to cool.
  2. Serve warm over pancakes. Store remaining syrup in the refrigerator until ready to use.
