Family Thyme – Disney On Ice Presents Princesses and Heroes
If you or your little one is a fan of Disney you don’t want to miss Disney On Ice presents Princesses and Heroes presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt.
I remember when I was young my parents taking me to ice shows. I loved going into the city to the arena and watching my favorite characters sing and skate around. It was always so much fun.
Last night I got to relive those memories through the eyes of my kids when I attended the opening night performance of Disney On Ice Presents Princesses and Heroes by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo. It’s always a touching moment when you see your kids eyes light up for the first time when they see their favorite characters skate on the ice as their voice echos through the arena. This was the first time my kiddos ever attended an ice show and to say their were mesmerized is an understatement. It was a moment that truly brought tears to my eyes.
We are planning on first Disney family vacation this spring. We waited until the kids were almost 5 to take them so they could really enjoy it. In the meantime they are in love with all things Disney. What I love about Disney On Ice is it brings our favorite Disney characters to our backyard so to speak. My kids had a chance to experience a little bit of Disney without having to travel far.
Disney On Ice presents Princesses and Heroes is an entertaining and action packed show the entire family will love. From the colorful set design, dazzling costumes and amazing choreography of the talented performers, it was a great show definitely worth seeing.
The 2 hour performance begins with our pals Mickey and Minnie kicking off the show coming out and saying hello to the audience. Then we are transported to Aladdin as we watch him and Princess Jasmine skate around the enchanted streets. Afterwards we are greeted by Snow White and a fun performance by the Seven Dwarfs. Then it’s off to meet Belle and an entertaining number from Beauty and the Beast complete with Lumiere the candlestick and even skating silverware.
The show then takes us to one of my favorites Tangled with a duet by Rapunzel and Flynn skating to “I See the Light.” Then we go “Under the Sea” for performances from the Little Mermaid.
There is a short intermission before the lights dim for the second half of the show with performances from some more favorite Disney princesses Tiana, Sleeping Beauty and even Cinderella arriving onto the ice in a carriage.
Fans of Frozen are in for a real treat as the remaining show transports us to Arrandale where fun loving Anna is skating around to “For the First Time in Forever.” Then Elsa appears and you hear every little girl in the audience scream in excitement. Next we meet Prince Hans with a performance to “Love is an Open Door.” If you have seen the movie 1,234,567 times like I have, you know the next song from the movie is “Let It Go”, which the show includes a snowy performance by Elsa that has every little girl standing and singing at the top of their lungs. #socute
The show continues as Anna heads up to the mountains in search of Elsa. Anna meets Kristoff and that cute little snowman named Olaf that likes warm hugs. They perform to “In Summer” which brings my son to his feet and a smile from ear to ear. My little guy loves Olaf and seeing him skate on the ice made his night!
Finally Elsa and Anna reunite and summer returns to Arrandale. It is 30 minutes of pure bliss for every little girl and boy that loves Frozen.
The show ends with the princesses returning to the ice. It’s truly a magical show the entire family will enjoy!
The show runs through Sunday in Buffalo. For a full listing of shows and to check to see if Disney On Ice is coming to your area click HERE.
