BIG BATCH CHILI SEASONING

Who doesn’t love a big bowl of chili, especially on a “chili” day! I love it! I also love trying different chili recipes. If we go out to a restaurant and there is chili on the menu I often order a bowl to try it. I’ve even gone to chili competitions trying everyone’s award winning chili recipes. Wow! It’s so much fun and no two bowls are ever the same!

Even with all the different varieties and spins on a classic bowl of chili, nothing beats a simple bowl of homemade chili. Just the basics. Ground beef, crushed tomatoes, onions, kidney beans and of course a tasty chili spice blend.

A few months ago I did a Facebook live sharing some of my favorite homemade seasoning blends. Of course my chili seasoning blend was on the top of the list. Here’s my deal. I like to make big batch seasoning blends on seasonings I often use like taco seasoning, Italian seasoning, ranch seasoning and this chili seasoning. I whip up a big batch of it and it lasts me for a while, which is a huge timesaver when it comes to cooking. Plus I have it on hand a variety of other recipes as well. My theory is if you’re going to the trouble of making it once, why not just make a big batch and have it on hand for awhile. Makes sense, right?

BIG BATCH CHILI SEASONING

This Big Batch Homemade Chili Seasoning makes enough for 3 or 4 pots of chili, depending on how much of a kick you want. You could even double this recipe too if you think you need even more. This Big Batch Homemade Chili Seasoning only takes minutes to make. I like to pulse it quickly in my food processor to grind it up even more and blend all the spices together. Then I’ll pour the mixture into a mason jar and seal it with a lid. Add a cute label (mine are from Hobby Lobby) and write what it is with a chalkboard pen and you’re done.

This is great even for holiday gifts. I love thoughtful homemade holiday gifts. And who wouldn’t love this. Make a batch for a friend or neighbor along with a cute tag and a pretty bow.

Since I’ve shared this on Facebook over the summer so many of you have told me how much you have enjoyed this recipe! For those who have missed it, I hope you give it a try now! I’ll even be sharing my yummy recipe for Slow Cooker Chili coming up next so you can try this seasoning and use it in that recipe! And if you’re not following me on Facebook yet, please make sure you “like” my page so you don’t miss yummy recipes like this!

  1. Hi, I am getting ready to make this big batch of chili seasoning, but it does not say how much to use when cooking with it. How much of the mix do I add to a batch of chili with one pound of meat?
    Thanks, Trisha 🙂
