Bacon Wrapped Dates with Goat Cheese
A few weeks ago we entertained some friends and as usual I like to serve a variety of appetizers for everyone to nibble on while enjoying some wine. Â For this gathering one of appetizers on the menu were these Bacon Wrapped Dates with Goat Cheese. Â
At first I was just going to do a simple date wrapped in bacon but while I was at the market picking up some other cheeses for the evening I came across goat cheese and thought it would be a perfect combination with the dates and bacon.
These are simple to make. Â I like to prepare them ahead of time. Â Just as guests arrive, pop them in the oven. Â Before you know it, you have a delicious and elegant appetizer to serve. Â If you are entertaining for the holidays, these are a great addition to include on your holiday menu. Â

Wow! Those sound absolutely great! I bet these would be great with figs also. BUZZ! Thanks for sharing!
What perfect finger foods! I do not like goat cheese *Yikes*,I know! But these look sooo good! I may just have to bake them regardless! Hmmmm, or maybe gorgonzola?
I bet gorgonzola would be delicious as well! 🙂
I saw some of these before, but without bacon. Let me tell you-that bacon makes all the difference in the world-your pictures sold me on that! I would definitely have to make them with bacon. I have a whole drawer full of different cheeses, so this post does inspire. Thanks for sharing-yum!
These look wonderful, I bet they are a hit at parties. What a great combination!
I looooove these!!! Gorgeous photos too!
they were great!!! jennifer. i am going to make them for my christmas party. linda(marios girl)
Hi Linda! Glad you liked them! Hope all is well and we look forward to you both coming to visit again soon! 🙂
I like to add a fresh basil leaf under the goat cheese….
Delicious! I used the convection roast option on my oven and the bacon crisped up perfectly and it also shortened the cooking time. Thanks!
In my opinion it tastes much better when ur using only half the dates vs a full one. Love this recipe. About 4 per person is plenty.
these look awesome!! i came across your site while searching bacon wrapped date. mmm! what type of bacon works best? cured/uncured?
This recipe used just regular center cut cured bacon. Enjoy!
Thank you for the incredible recipe. Maybe I’ll pair these with some fresh local honey to drizzle on as I serve them!! Mmmm, I can’t wait
Can these me prepared, baked and then frozen??
Thank you! Looks so yummy!
Hi Mary, I have not tried freezing them, but I am sure you could. Just prepare as directed then freeze. When ready to eat just thaw and reheat. Enjoy!
This appetizer is delicious… I’ve precooked the bacon a little to insure crispiness. I’ve also prepared a balsamic vinegar reduction to drizzle over the cooked dates….yum!
Hi Donna, So glad to hear you enjoyed this delicious appetizer. I love your idea of adding the balsamic reduction over it.
