I am obsessed with these green beans, I mean obsessed!
I’ve always had a love for green beans. Sometimes I get a late night cravings for them. No joke! Don’t get me wrong I crave green beans late at night as much as I do a big bowl of ice cream! But seriously, sometimes you can find me in the kitchen at night eating a bowl of green beans. Who’s with me? Please tell me I’m not the only one!
Actually when I get a craving for green beans at night I usually am just opening up a can of green beans or a frozen bag of steamed green beans and popping them in the microwave then tossing them with some butter, salt and pepper. Pretty basic stuff. But if I have leftover green beans in the refrigerator like these DELICIOUS Green Beans with Toasted Garlic Breadcrumbs and Almonds you bet I’m diving into them!
Seriously these are the best! These are so good you may ever want to make green beans any other way again except for when you’re craving for green beans at night and the only thing you have is canned green beans.
I make these Green Beans with Toasted Garlic Butter Breadcrumbs and Almond with fresh green beans however you could totally make these with steamed frozen green beans or even canned. Obviously fresh is best for the best flavor, crunch, texture and taste but you could totally make these with a bag of frozen steamed green beans or even canned too if you want to try!
What makes these green beans amazing is the garlic butter breadcrumbs and almonds! It’s amazing! Not only is this mixture good with green beans but try it with roasted asparagus, brussels sprouts or broccoli. It’s incredible!

The name says it all! An easy recipe for Green Beans with Toasted Garlic Butter Breadcrumbs and Almonds made with tender green beans tossed with buttery garlic breadcrumbs and almonds. The perfect side dish for any meal!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup plain panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup slivered almonds
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 4 tablespoons softened butter (divided)
- 2–3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 pound fresh green beans (cleaned and trimmed)
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a small bowl mix together breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, almonds, garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a medium skillet over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and cook for about 45 seconds, until fragrant.
- Add breadcrumb mixture to skillet and cook, stirring occasionally until toasted, about 4-5 minutes.
- Remove mixture from skillet and set aside.
- Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water to a boil.
- Add green beans and cook for about 5 minutes until tender.
- Drain and transfer warm green beans to a large bowl.
- Toss warm green beans with remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Heat from green beans should melt the butter and coat the green beans with butter.
- Toss green beans with breadcrumb mixture.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Notes
You could also use a 1 pound bag of steamed frozen green beans too. Follow instructions above for garlic butter breadcrumbs and almonds. Steam green beans per package instructions then add green beans to a bowl and toss with butter and toss with garlic butter breadcrumbs and almonds. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
