Jute beehives are so cute! Not only are they cute they are so easy to make too! You just need a few supplies and to easily make one yourself! They are so fun to make!
Jute beehives are be a bit pricey at the store. I’ve seen them at Hobby Lobby and I knew I could easily make one myself for half the cost. So I grabbed a plastic planter and some nautical rope from Dollar Tree and sure enough I was able to make a super cute jute beehive that not only was cute but was affordable to make too!
- Plastic planter – I got mine at the Dollar Tree
- Nautical rope – I got mine at Dollar Tree. You can get it at Hobby Lobby or Amazon too The amount of nautical rope will depend on the size of your planter. I used 3 strands of nautical rope for mine.
- Hot glue
- Black paint
- Paint Brush
- Ribbon and raffia
Flip the planter over so the top is the bottom. Add a ribbon of hot glue at the bottom open end as close to the and add your nautical rope.
Continue to add hot glue and wrapping your nautical rope around the planter. If you run out of nautical rope just start with a new roll where you left off.
As I got closer to the top take a piece of nautical rope and make a loop and hot glue to the top center then fill in the remaining with additional nautical rope.
Take nautical rope and make a circle in the center and attach with hot glue.
Paint the center of circle with black.
I dressed mine up with some ribbon and raffia. Get creative and add whatever you’d like.
If you make this too I’d love to see! Snap a picture and tag me on Instagram at motherthyme!
