DIY Buffalo Check Presents with Twine Picks
These darling buffalo check presents are wrapped in twine are so easy to make and can be tucked in a Christmas tree, wreath or garland.
A few years ago I purchased similar buffalo check present picks on QVC. I loved them and wanted another set. I got the red check and wanted a black check set too but they are no longer available except on Ebay, so my DIY loving heart decided to just make my own!
When I got them a few years ago I did share them over on my Instagram stories too. You can even see how I used them in my home.
So I went to Dollar Tree grabbed some square floral foam and was ready to make my present picks.
These couldn’t be any easier to make. You can make a bunch really quick. Here’s what you need.
SUPPLIES
- 2.9×3.9×3.9 floral foam for Dollar Tree (or similar)
- Fabric – mine is from Hobby Lobby but you could use whatever fabric that matches your decor
- Skewers – mine are from Dollar Tree
- Twine – I used regular twine but you could use whatever ribbon or even a thicker wired jute twine
- Scissors
- Hot glue
STEPS
Cut your fabric and wrap piece of foam attaching it with hot glue. I cut my pieces 8 1/2 inches wide by 14 1/2 inches long to cover these blocks of floral foam. If you use a different floral foam your measurements will be different.
Use twine or ribbon of choice to wrap present.
Add a skewer to the bottom to use in tree. You can cut the pick if you need a shorter pick.
SO EASY, isn’t it? And it costs roughly $1.25 a pick to make if you use scrap fabric you may have on hand, or you can get some fabric at Hobby Lobby when it’s on sale for a couple of dollars for 1/2 yard to make several of these.
Christmas picks at retail can be pricey especially if they aren’t on sale. These are a great size and definitely would be something that would cost more to buy already made even at Hobby Lobby plus you can customize the fabric and ribbon to make your decor.
If you make these too I’d love to see! Snap a picture and tag me over on Instagram @ motherthyme!
