Easy No-Sew Spindle Christmas Tree Bowl Filler

EASY, NO-SEW SPINDLE CHRISTMAS TREES

Time to grab your favorite fabric or homespun my friends to make some cute and easy no-sew Christmas tree bowl filler using spindles!

You can use old, rustic spindles or if you don’t have any, you can get unfinished spindles on Amazon (get them HERE). That’s what I used for this project then I painted them using Folkart paint in the color Burnt Umber. I also cut the spindles in half.

Alternatively you could use sticks, cinnamon sticks (which I almost used) or dowels. Get creative and use whatever you have on hand.

For the cream stripe tree I actually used an unfinished candlestick from Hobby Lobby that I also painted with Folkart paint in Burnt Umber. I must say this one might be my favorite because it will also stand too.

You’ll see how I make that one later this week on my YouTube channel but the process is the same like the rest of these.

Once you have your base now it’s time to cut your fabric. I used homespun from Hobby Lobby in the fabric section. The cream stripe I also coffee stained simply by dipping it in coffee for just a few seconds, ringing it out and then letting it dry.

I cut triangles using a rotary cutter and ruler. I cut my triangles 7 inches high by 5 inches wide, but you can make yours as big you’d like. I also put two pieces of fabric together and cut them but at once so they were the same size. You can pin the fabric too if you’d like.

Next you’ll hot glue the two pieces of fabric together, leaving an opening at the bottom to adding stuffing. I use stuffing from an old pillow or you can get stuffing at the craft store. You don’t need a lot and you don’t want to overstuff them and you want to leave the bottom with less stuffing since you are going to add your spindle.

Once stuffed, I place my spindle in the center and little ways in so it’s sturdy and the tree isn’t floppy and add some hot glue to secure it in place. I then I seal the bottom shut, also making sure I hot glue on top of the spindle to secure it.

I also added a torn tag. You can get the tags for free HERE. I added some coffee and tore around the edges. Since I used a thicker cardstock for these tags I used some scalloped scissors to give it a choppy, torn look. I tied it around the base with twine and added a button.
