This brownie mix in a jar is great to whip up to have on hand in your pantry or to make for gifts too!

Who doesn’t love chewy chocolate brownies? When I need to whip up a quick dessert or craving something sweet and chocolate-y, these chewy and delicious brownies always hit the spot!

I always have at least of jar of this brownie mix on hand in my pantry so I can easily whip up a batch of brownies!

Once you try these, you’ll never grab a box of store bought brownie mix again!

I know it’s tempting, and I cave into the temptation every once in awhile too to get a box at the store but when I make the store bought brownie mix I’m always disappointed.

This homemade brownie mix contains simple, pantry ingredients and not a bunch of “stuff” like the store bought mixes have.

Watching your sugar? Swap on granulated sugar for a sugar substitute like Swerve, Monkfruit or whatever your sugar substitute preference is.

That’s what so nice about making your own mix, you can control what ingredients you use.

And if you don’t feel like making a “brownie mix in a jar” and just want to quickly whip up a batch of gooey and delicious brownies, then just add the ingredients to a bowl and follow the instructions.

For this you will need pint size jars. You can mix it in a bowl then pour the brownie mix in your jar, or you can mix it in the jar. It is pretty full when mixing it in the jar, but it can be done. I prefer doing it that way so I can make several jars at once and create an assembly line.

If you prefer you can layer the mix in the jar too. To have a layered jar look add your flour, sugar, baking powder and salt to the jar and mix together. Use a tamper to gently tamp the mixture down then add the cocoa. Use the tamper to gently tamp that layer down then fill with 1/2 cup of chocolate chunks or chocolate chips or a mixture of chocolate chips and chopped walnuts. Whatever brownie mix in’s you like!

To make the brownies you’ll just need an 8-inch baking pan, melted butter, eggs and vanilla! Just mix it together in a bowl, pour into the pan and

If you right the tag yourself this is what you’ll add –

You will need –

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spray an 8×8 inch pan with cooking spray.
  • Add brownie mix to a large bowl.
  • Stir in melted butter, eggs and vanilla.
  • Pour batter into pan and bake for 20-22 minutes.

Brownie Mix in a Jar

An easy recipe for chewy and delicious brownie mix in a jar! Perfect to store in your pantry or to make for gift giving!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa 
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Add sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt to a pint size mason jar and mix together until combined.
  • Top with 1/2 cup of chocolate chunks. 
  • Seal with lid.
  • Alternatively you can mix sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a bowl then add mixture to jar and top with chocolate chunks.
  • For layered jar – add sugar, flour, baking powder and salt to a jar and mix. Gently tamp the layer down. Next add cocoa on top and use a tamper to tamp cocoa down. Top with chocolate chunks.
  • Add lid and tag with baking instructions.

Notes

  • To bake you will need –
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • To make –
  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Spray an 8 inch baking pan with non-stick spray.
  • Add brownie mixture to a bowl then stir in melted butter, eggs and vanilla. Stir until just combined.
  • Pour batter into prepared baking pan and bake for about 20 minutes.
