DIY Rustic Pinwheels

Wait until you see how easy it was to transform these 97 cent pinwheels into cute and rustic pinwheels!
Again I found these pinwheels at Walmart for 97 cents but you could use anyone.

Next I spray painted them with Rustoleum in the color Espresso. While the paint is still wet sprinkle them with cinnamon, then add more spray paint, another layer of cinnamon and then spray with some spray adhesive. I like to use the Elmers Spray Adhesive which I get at Walmart.
I keep repeating these layers with paint – cinnamon – spray adhesive until I get the look like it. At the end I do sprinkle them with just a pinch of instant coffee too, but that is totally optional. Then set them aside to dry.

You can tuck these anywhere. For these I used recycled cans that I spray painted black and did the same rusty technique on as I did with the pinwheels sprinkling them with cinnamon and spray adhesive to get the rusty can look.
Once the cans were dry, I added some foam – you could use floral foam, cut a pool noodle, I used some recycled packaging. I then filled it with Spanish moss, some dried sweet Annie, added some torn homespun and the cute tags that you can download for free.
The tags come in a rustic background like shown below so you can print them on paper or with a transparent background so you can print them on whatever paper you’d like or print on fabric like I did.

Print on Fabric
To print I tape the muslin onto a piece of copy paper or spray it with some spray adhesive/spray glue and attach it to a piece of copy paper then add it to my printer and print. I don’t use any custom settings, just the normal print setting and just like that I have my image printed on fabric!
