Cozy Bedroom Refresh

COZY BEDROOM REFRESH

I love kicking off the new year giving my bedroom a cozy refresh. It’s nothing major or expensive but just switching things up, or getting some fresh new linens to give it a new look and feel.

For years I would use a white comforter on my bed and change things up seasonally with new throw pillows and throws, quilts, or end of bed throws to add more texture and coziness to the bedding. It’s an easy way to switch things up seasonally or when I need to give it a new look.

This year I wanted to do something a little different. I honestly I was getting a little bored with the white comforter. I wanted to find some bedding with more texture or even color.

Most importantly I like to find affordable bedding that doesn’t look cheap. I’ve been shopping around and nothing really jumped out to me.

Recently when I was at Walmart I stumbled upon some cozy bedding from the Better Homes and Gardens collection. They had several styles in this collection that were really nice, but this blue paisley comforter set jumped out to me. I loved the blue color and the paisley texture on the comforter, and for under $65 for a king set I thought it was a pretty good deal. I also thought the darker comforter would warm up the space and really pop.

Another switch to the room was switching up the frames above my bed. For years I had one large 24×36 frame above my bed that I changed out seasonally with digital prints from my print shop. I love doing this but wanted something fresh and different.

I decided to add three frames above the bed. I went with three 16×20 frames, using the same Gray Belmont frames from Michael’s that I love and use throughout my home.

I was going to get some artwork to pop in the frames but I had some wrapping paper that inspired me instead. I love adding wrapping paper, scrapbook paper or even fabric to frames. It’s an easy and affordable way to deck the walls seasonally.

I couldn’t find the wrapping paper I had (I eventually found it) so I decided to get some fabric for the frames. So for about $3.00 I got about a yard of fabric from Hobby Lobby to cut out and pop into the matted frames.

I even did this to smaller frames on the nightstands too. Easy peasy and I love the pop of color. I love how it coordinates with the cozy comforter too!

The other switch in the room was the lamps. I had lamps in my bedroom for years at I got at Kirklands and as I was making the bed the old lamps looked out of place.

First I shopped my basement for other lamps but didn’t have anything that looked right, so I took a quick trip to Gabe’s to see if they had any affordable lamps that I liked.

I love Gabe’s. If you aren’t familiar with Gabe’s, it’s like a Ross, just better and their prices are amazing! I’ve shared Gabe’s hauls on my YouTube channel before. I never walk out of there empty handed. I always find affordable things there, and sure enough I walk right in and found lamps for under $25 each. It was meant to be!

The lamps looked perfect on the nightstands and went well with the rest of the look for the bedroom. I also added some cute little topiaries to the nightstands that I had in the basement. I don’t like to add too much to the nightstands.

With just few simple changes and a few new affordable pieces I was able to give the bedroom a fresh new look.

I hope this inspires you as well. Add a new comforter, or maybe you have an old comforter you can switch around. Shop your home and find things you haven’t used in a while, or bring things in from another room to give it a new look. Just a few simple changes can give your room a fresh new look affordably!
