DIY Vintage-Style Valentine’s Day Crocks

Do you love collecting vintage marmalade crocks? Then wait until you see these vintage-style Valentine’s Day crocks that are inspired by the sought after vintage marmalade crocks.
I love making these crocks to add to my seasonal decor. I have shared how I made my fall and Christmas crocks before and when I found these vintage-style Valentine’s Day labels I knew they would be perfect for these crocks.
When I made the fall and Christmas crocks I used vases from Hobby Lobby. I was going to use those vases again for this project until I stumbled upon matte white vases that at Dollar Tree. I’ve never seen them there before but I must say I was so excited to find them! They are the perfect size for these seasonal vintage-inspired crocks that I love to make.

They are the perfect addition to display along with your marmalade crock collection, tuck in a Valentine’s Day vignette, or on a coffee bar.
I got the labels HERE and printed them on transparent vinyl paper. I use Cricut transparent vinyl paper (which you can get HERE). Even though it’s “Cricut”, you don’t need a Cricut, you just need an inkjet printer. I use THIS printer which is affordable (under $40!) and works great for all my printing projects!
The transparent Cricut vinyl paper is just like a sticker and sticks better than sticker paper. Simply print, cut to size, peel the backing off then add to your project. Easy peasy!

Step by Step
These couldn’t be easier to make! Below is the step by step instructions if you want to make them just like me.
First, what you need. If you want to make them just like mine, you need to supplies I used.
- Container – I used a vase from Dollar Tree. I like this one because it’s a similar size to vintage marmalade jars.
- Transparent vinyl paper – This is the transparent vinyl I use. It’s just like a sticker. Print using an inkjet printer, cut and peel.
- Printer – This is the print I use and it’s under $40!
- Scissors or paper cutter
- Labels – I got these on Etsy. You can find them HERE.
- DecoArt Triple Glaze – Since the vases were matte I used this to give the jar a glossy finish. I
- Dark gray or black paint to dry brush on vase. I used Fusion paint in the color cast iron.
- Paint brushes – to apply glaze and to dry brush paint onto vase.
STEP 1 – Print the png (transparent image) on the transparent vinyl paper. Check your printer settings on which way the paper faces. Click print to print the crock labels.

STEP 2 – Trim the labels down with scissors or I use a paper cutter for crisp, straight lines. CLICK HERE for the one I use.
STEP 3 – Peel the backing off the label.
STEP 4 – Place on container.

STEP 5 – If desired dry brush dark gray or paint on jar to give it a distressed look. I used Fusion paint in the color cast iron. To dry brush, I add a little paint to a paint brush then brush most of the paint off to that it’s almost dry, hence dry brush and lightly brush it on the vase until I get the desired distressed look.

STEP 6 – Finally I add a gloss coat on top using DecoArt Triple Thick gloss glaze to blend in with the glossy sticker paper and to give the vase a glossy look.

And that’s it! It’s so easy and it makes the perfect addition to your Valentine’s Day decor!
